Sometimes it’s the little things that blow me away 👀 When we built this wall, there was a gap between the cabinet and butcher block. Instead of leaving it, the guys got creative. They took a single 2x4, taped and stained each section to blend perfectly, making it look like one continuous piece. That’s the kind of detail you don’t even think about until you see it, and it makes all the difference. 🙌 #attentiontodetail #customremodel #carpentrylove #homerenovation #houstoncontractor #beforeandafter #rockcreekcontracting
The light at the end of the tunnel isn’t a train, it’s grout lines. And they’re straight. Like laser straight. Tile guys are making this look way too easy. Backsplash goes in today. That’s right, we’ve graduated from “living in a construction zone” to “barely functional humans upstairs.” Progress. Since day one, I called August 31 as the finish line. If this thing actually wraps up on time, I’m buying a lottery ticket. Big shoutout to all the guys who’ve gone above and beyond to help make this happen, couldn’t have done it without you. #remodel #homerenovation #tileinstallation #bathroomremodel #kitchenremodel #contractorlife #tilework #homemakeover #renovationlife #tilersofinstagram #remodeling #homedesign #interiordesign #renovationproject #constructionlife
You will never convince me tile upstairs is a bad idea. And here’s why… Tile upstairs: ✅ Quiet with area rugs ✅ Outlasts wood and LVP by decades ✅ Doesn’t swell or scratch like wood/LVP ✅ Best for pets, spills, and kids ❌ Cold without rugs ❌ Harder install ❌ Heavier load on framing Wood/LVP upstairs: ✅ Warm and cozy feel ✅ Softer underfoot ✅ Faster, easier install ❌ Scratches, swells, and fades ❌ Doesn’t love Texas humidity ❌ Replacement every 10–15 years #homerenovation #flooringideas #tileflooring #tileinstallation #lvp #woodfloors #flooringdesign #remodeling #contractorsofinstagram #homeimprovement #dreamhome #modernhome #renovationinspiration #interiordesign #flooringcontractor #houstonhomes #cypresstx #rockcreekcontracting #flooringtrends #tilelove
2300 sq ft left to go! From leveling and mortar to center line layout and those satisfying tile clicks it’s all about progress and precision. Update #487 - Tile Continues, Wife’s vanity is raised, crown moulding repairs continue, pocket door trimmed out, wood repair work on kitchen island. Tomorrow, rebuild the fireplace mantle, relocate electrical in master, hang Sheetrock, finish crown moulding.
Immediately in a better mood after doing this 😀
Three weeks in on our house repairs and we’re finally starting to see the light (or at least a few less tools on the floor). ✅ Pool equipment is up and running again ✅ Stairs are sealed and painted ✅ Tile is moving fast upstairs ✅ Baseboards and drywall texture almost done We also made a last-minute call to demo the master bathroom countertops, turns out my wife’s side was four inches shorter than mine. She’s the same height as me. I value my marriage more than those countertops. This week we’re locking in on the downstairs, trying to get as much wrapped up as possible before the tile crew makes their way down. #homerenovation #diyhome #houseprojects #tilework #drywallrepair #baseboards #houstoncontractor #rockcreekcontracting #marriagemaintenance #customhomeupdates #bathroomremodel #poolrepair #beforeandafter #tradesquad #remodeljourney
Squeaky floors? Silenced like a toddler with an iPad. We’ve been busy. From Ditra underlayment upstairs to solid-core doors for noise reduction, every detail is getting dialed in. Even the vacuum has its own plug-in closet now, bougie, I know. Bonus tip: if your dryer hose has ever made you question your life choices, get the magnetic connection. You’re welcome. More updates coming soon… once the compound dries and I catch my breath. #homerenovation #houstoncontractor #laundryroomgoals #termitefree #schlutersystems #pebbletech #ditramat #pocketdoors #soundproofing #modernmakeover #rockcreekcontracting
Today’s update: We started getting flooring installed! 🙌 Still a ways to go, but it finally feels like we’re moving forward in a big way. Upstairs, most of the day was spent prepping with Schluter Ditra, it’s an uncoupling membrane that helps prevent tile from cracking over time, especially on second floors. It’s one of those steps that adds zero visual wow… but saves major headaches down the road. More updates coming soon, we knocked out a bunch of stuff today, but I’ll break that down in a later video. #rockcreekcontracting #homerenovation #flooringprep #schlutersystems #ditra #tileinstallation #houstoncontractor #cypressremodel #remodelprogress #builderlife #tileunderlayment #constructionupdate #beforeandafter #homeimprovement #contractorsofinstagram
Today’s episode of “How much more money can I throw at this house?” features… countertops! I went with man-made quartz, not because I don’t like natural stone, but because I’m practical. Quartz resists stains like a champ, doesn’t need to be sealed every 6 months, and still looks like a million bucks (without actually costing it… kinda). Yes, natural stone is beautiful, but so is not stressing over wine rings and lemon juice etching your counters forever. So if you’re debating quartz vs granite or marble, ask yourself one question: do you like wiping and sealing countertops like it’s a full-time job? #rockcreekcontracting #countertops #quartzcountertops #homeremodel #kitchenreno #quartzvsgranite #houstonremodeling #contractorlife #homeupdates #buildertips #remodelwithus #houstonhomes #interiordesign #quartzkitchen #hometreno
When the shipment weighs more than the truck, you know it’s serious. 23,000 pounds of tile, grout, thinset, Schluter edge, and Ditra. We’re using Ditra instead of Hardie on the second floor because it’s lighter, easier to work with, and actually helps prevent cracks by decoupling the tile from subfloor movement. Your floors will thank you. #tileinstallation #ditra #schluter #homeimprovement #contractorlife #tilework #thinset #grout #floorprep #tilingtools #remodellife #constructionhumor #flooringinstallation #houstoncontractor #tilerenovation #rockcreekcontracting #jobsitehaul #tileshop #remodeltips #diytile

One of my guys helping my son learn how to shoot a nail gun while we fix our home. We’re not just rebuilding houses, we’re building the next generation. And to the safety police out there: yes, we see the lack of goggles and steel-toes… he’s supervised, loved, and one step away from being your boss. #rockcreekcontracting #nextgeneration #tradesthatmatter #familybusiness #teachthemyoung #buildingmorethanhomes #handsonlearning #constructionlife #dewalt
We have a ton of ceiling that needed to match an existing texture, and this custom-made brush setup saved us hours. Instead of trying to hand-match knockdown patterns the old-school way, this tool helped us blend everything seamlessly and efficiently. Stress on the post-tension cables. Stress on my wallet. UPDATE: Demo ✅ Plumbing ✅ Stucco ✅ Pool ✅ Electrical ✅ - Four jack stands holding up the second story while we demo termite-damaged beams. - Removed exterior framing and stucco around those big windows. - Plumbing is roughed in for the new powder bath and upstairs laundry room - Game room is officially on its way to becoming a bedroom. - And out back, we’re hammering off all the old plaster in the pool. Never a dull moment around here. #rockcreekcontracting #homerenovation #remodelprogress #houstoncontractor #poolremodel #framingdemo #stuccorepair #plumbingroughin #gameRoomToBedroom #houstonremodel
